Abby is a bulldog, technically an 'Olde English Bulldogge' a back-breed of bulldog that has the nice hallmark of being generally healthier than the traditional English Bulldog. The CKC recognizes the breed, the AKC does not. Not that we care. She was born 6/10/2000, so she's well on her way to 12 which is pretty high for a dog like her. She's slowed down in the last couple years, but enjoys her status as de facto head of the household with respect to my parents. She is awfully independent. She'll do what you say, whether that be to sit, or come, or get inside the house, but it'll take a few command repeats. It has to be pretty much her idea. She loved playing tug-of-war as a younger bulldog, and she still loves off-property walks...car ride and all. I'll miss her an awful lot when she's gone, and she was as interesting and unique a dog as one could ever hope for.
